Productivity: Positive feedback gives birth, negative one kills !!





Giving positive feedback encourages employees to bring out the best. It puts lots of motivation in their productivity and helps them making a happy working atmosphere. 


Here is how it happens.

There are some managers who normally prefer to give negative feedback when you make a mistake or when you are not doing up to your commitment. They may ignore your achievements in the way the act. And, sometime behave like it's what you are required to do as usual !


I will say, from my personal experience, this kind of managers kill your productivity immediately. It was ancient era when people were motivated by one and only -money. But, now-a-days, nobody goes for that ! People want respect and recognition besides getting financial reward.

On the other side, there are managers who like to give positive feedback. They come to you, congrats you, encourage you or talk in a positive way even when you show some lack of creativity or you fail to meet your commitment. When managers give positive feedback, they don't only give a feedback, but they also create inspiration, inspiration to do thing in a very best possible way.


I have couple of personal experiences where I saw how positive feedback creates positive result, how it helped me bringing out my best in different cases.

In Disney, I got the opportunity to meet some awesome-wonderful managers. My first manager Ethan-I won't forget him ever! He is really tremendous! He always smiles, encourages and leads from the front. He stops, asks, discusses and recognizes! Everybody including me is his fan at the working place. His presence brings us a fresh beginning even at the last hour shift!
My current manager Debbi is also another wonderful lady who always-always encourages and smiles. When there is an issue, she gets involved, helps us to find a best solution. When there is a mistake, she seeks for the solution rather than asking why and how it happened!!


I try and will try forever to give positive feedback and leading from the front.


Here I share one of my personal experiences weather I got to put it in my personality or not...


In our housing at Disney, we have at least two to three housing program every month. Last month, I attended in one of the programs. We had some outdoor activity as well as indoor activities. I normally prefer to hang out outside. Among the outdoor activities, there was an event-I don't know what it's called in English- it's like you through three pillow type small cloth ball in a whole which is nearly 10-12 meters away from you and around 200c.m above the ground. If you can make two out of the three balls, you win a prize.

Well, as I used to play cricket once in my beautiful country Bangladesh, I made the through all the three time-three out of three !! I got a prize-a Disney T-shirt...Yammi...

I stood in line to play it again. And, I made it again!! This time I asked for a Disney shorts!!

While I was in line, I didn't see anybody made it three times in a row. Some of us made it two out of three-they got prize too. I saw a boy who stood in line two times but failed to through it on the right spot. His friend was telling him not to try again as he thought it would not be possible yet again. I, just from my interest, went to him and said him that ''it is possible and really possible to hit it every time you want-you only need to look on the whole and push the ball really slow rather than looking to your hand back and forth and throwing fast.'' I said, ‘‘It’s really easy dude, you can easily make it''

He stood in the line. And, he succeeded in the first ball, second one was missed, and before he attempted to through the last one, he looked to me. I tried to say again that ''it's easy'' in my eye language. He threw it, and made it...yammi!! Everybody became happy; he came to me with his other friends, and thanked me a lot!


I learnt again that Positive feedback works!!

·       You are one of the best intern here!! You should be proud of you!! (lol..It just makes me happy :))

·       There is no problem at all!!

·       Ziaul, where do you get so much energy?

Well, I wrote these only to show how positive my managers are in the way they connect and engage, not to show how well I do!!(I always wish I were the best!)
